Aamir Khan’s Peepli Live Nominated for Oscar

Aamir Khan produced film ‘Peepli Live’ was nominated for Oscar, which has been short listed for Best Foreign Film category. ‘Peepli Live’ shows the farmer suicides in India. Anusha Rizvi’s is the director of the movie and it is the first film for Anusha Rizvi’s.

Earlier, Aamir Khan’s films ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Taare Zameen Par’ has nominated for this category. Aamir Khan says, “Am very happy that Peepli Live has been chosen to represent India at the Oscars. It’s always a great honour to get to represent your country on a world platform and I would like to thank the Film Federation of India for considering the film worthy,”

‘Peepli Live’ has become a commercial success in India with the world wide gross box-office collections of Rs. 70 Crore. The movie also named as the Best First Feature Film at the 31st Durban International Film Festival in South Africa. The official list of nominees for 83rd Annual Academy Awards will be announced on January 25th, 2011.
